# Can I keep my Burner forever?

Yes — you can keep your Burner number for as long as you’d like, as long as one of the following applies:

- Your subscription remains **active**
- You choose to **port the number out** to another carrier or provider

### **Keeping Your Number Active**

As long as your Burner subscription stays active and in good standing, your Burner number will remain assigned to your account.

If a subscription expires or is cancelled, the number may eventually expire or be released, and you'll receive in-app warning notifications warning of the upcoming expiration.

### **Porting Your Number Out**

If you’d like to keep your number permanently outside of Burner, you can choose to **port the number to another carrier**.

Porting transfers ownership of the number from Burner to your new provider, allowing you to continue using it elsewhere.

- Expired or burned numbers may not always be recoverable
- We recommend keeping your subscription active until any port-out process is fully completed
