# Message Retainment

## **Message Retention & Data Storage**

We understand how important your conversations can be, so here’s how message retention works in Burner.

### **Active Burner Numbers**

While your Burner number is **active**, your text messages and call history are available within the app.

### **After a Number Expires or is Burned**

Once a Burner number is **expired or burned**, all associated **message content (texts and media)** is **permanently deleted from our system**.

This means:

- Text messages cannot be recovered
- Media (photos/videos) cannot be retrieved
- Conversation history is removed

### **What Information Is Retained**

Although message content is deleted, we may retain **limited activity records**, such as:

- The date and time a call or message was sent or received
- Basic usage activity (for system and account purposes)

These records **do not include the content of messages or calls**.

### **Important to Know**

Because message content is permanently deleted after a number expires or is burned, we recommend saving any important information **before** that happens.
